New Leaf Counselling and Psychotherapy Prince Edward Island (PEI)
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do sessions usually last?
Sessions last 50-60 minutes. 50 minutes is the standard for counselling.
How much do counselling sessions cost?
$80 per session, which is also the standard for counselling in this area.
Lower pricing may be available if one cannot afford the $80
Are you covered by insurance?
Not at this time, though hypnotherapy with Cathy MacArthur is covered by most
plans.
Why did you call your place of work a clinic? Is is a medical clinic too?
We chose "clinic" because we offer a variety of therapeutic services (counselling, hypnotherapy, and nutritional counselling). It is not a medical clinic.
How many sessions will I come for?
This depends on what you need. Some people come only a few times while others may decide to come to counselling for months or even years. This is something that I can discuss with clients to make a collaborative decision.
What are your hours?
We are by appointment only.
If I leave a voicemail, when will you return my call?
We will try to return your call as soon as possible (within a day or so). Sometimes this can take up to 2 business days.
Should I leave a voicemail or keep trying to call?
Please leave a voicemail. This is the most efficient way to contact our office.
Do you have a waiting list? How soon can I get an appointment?
At this time, we do not have a waiting list and are accepting new clients. You are likely to get an appointment for the same week that you are calling, or early in the following week.
I already know you, can I come to you or send my family members?
We're sorry, but counsellors cannot take people that they know as clients. In most cases, it would also be unethical for us to counsell the family member of someone that we currently know outside of counselling. Feel free to refer others such as coworkers and friends/acquaintances that we do not know and will not likely come to know in a social setting.
What does the M.C. in Justin's credentials mean?
M.C. refers to "Master of Counselling" which is similar to an M.A or M.E.D.
Are you from P.E.I.?
Yes.
Your website does not seem very "formal", especially here in this FAQ. Why is that?
I believe that professionalism comes not from dressing words up to impress people. Rather, I think it means honestly and authentically representing yourself in all areas. I want to talk to you on this website in the same way I would talk to you in person. I ask my clients to be honest and be themselves and I want to do exactly the same thing here on this website.
